A dog Alone on the Corner
In a quiet neighborhood in Southern California, a heartbreaking scene unfolded. A small puppy, no more than 8 months old, sat tied to a fire hydrant. Her owners had left behind a small dish of food and some water, but she hadn’t touched either. Instead, she curled her body into the smallest ball she could make, her head pressed low, as though the world had become too heavy to face.
For Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy Dog Rescue, the news was devastating but not unfamiliar. She had rescued several animals from that very stretch of road before. Each one had been abandoned in their own way, and now this little girl — later named Cici — was the latest soul discarded where love should have been.
A Neighbor Answers the Call
Suzette wanted to rush out immediately, but she was too far away to get there in time. Instead, she reached out to someone she trusted who lived nearby. Without a second thought, the woman set out to help.

Among all the kind people at the clinic, one stood out to her: Hedy Herold, the office manager. Every time Hedy passed by, Cici’s tail wiggled with joy. She followed her with eager eyes, soaking in every bit of love she was offered. Soon, she was spending her days curled up in Hedy’s arms, finally at peace.
A Future to Look Forward To
After a short stay at the hospital, Cici was cleared to begin the next stage of her journey — foster care. Her body had grown stronger, her spirit had begun to heal, and she was finally ready to experience life outside the clinic walls.
In her foster home, Cici will learn what it means to be part of a family. She’ll discover the joy of toys, warm blankets, and the comfort of human companionship. But the mission doesn’t stop there. Suzette and her rescue are already searching for the perfect forever family — one that will cherish Cici for the rest of her life.
