Days of Pain and Loneliness
For several days, a black-and-white pup lay helplessly on a heap of trash hidden among the bushes of a California neighborhood. Her faint cries echoed through the area, but no one stopped to check. Abandoned, injured, and in unbearable pain, she waited, hoping that someone would finally notice her suffering.
Her miracle came when Arturo Flores, a dedicated volunteer with Logan’s Legacy 29, received a call about the dog’s condition. The message described a heartbreaking scene: a dog lying motionless, whimpering, and surrounded by garbage. Flores immediately rushed to the spot, and what he found left him devastated.
A Rescue at the Right Moment
When Flores arrived, he saw the pup exactly as described—curled on her side, unable to move, her eyes filled with despair. It was clear she had been in this condition for days without food, comfort, or shelter. Flores refused to let her suffer any longer.
Gently, he lifted the dog, later named Tillie, into his car and rushed her to Camino Pet Hospital. The relief in her eyes said everything: she finally realized someone had come to help.
The Diagnosis: A Broken Pelvis
At the hospital, veterinarians quickly ran tests to uncover the source of Tillie’s pain. The results revealed the heartbreaking truth—she had a broken pelvis. The injury explained why she couldn’t walk or even stand, and why her cries had been so constant.
Though the team was saddened by the thought of Tillie enduring such agony on the streets, they were confident she could heal with the right treatment. Tillie’s road to recovery would require strict rest, pain management, and plenty of love.
“She just needs cage rest, short potty breaks, and a lot of affection,” Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, explained.
A Future Full of Hope
Even while recovering, Tillie showed nothing but gratitude. Staff members at the hospital were touched by the way she gazed at her caregivers, as if she understood that her life was finally changing for the better.
In the days since her rescue, Tillie has already started smiling again. Whether or not she will need surgery is still being determined, but the outpouring of care has made all the difference. She is slowly regaining strength, and her spirit shines through despite everything she’s endured.
Now, her rescuers are searching for a medical foster home where Tillie can continue her healing journey surrounded by love. With her sweet personality and incredible will to survive, everyone believes it won’t be long before someone falls in love with her.
“She will never have to beg for help again,” Hall promised.
